Moodboard
As an Art Director, I was often asked to create the look and feel of a new brand. BETher is a female-centered brand that is currently being updated. I created a mood board that breathes new life into an already existing brand by focusing on vibrant colors, futuristic fonts, and bold images.
Deck Template
This one-pager is for original BET content and often is centered around new show ideas. I needed to make sure clients were able to easily read a succinct and bold synopsis of each show or event while stile maintaining the color, font, and design aesthetic of the standard BET deck template.
Social Media-Livestreamed Event
BET’s house party is a live experience via social media that allows viewers to watch their favorite, artists, chefs, fitness gurus, DJs, and more showcase their craft and give helpful tips. Every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday I create promotional assets like the one seen above (each unique to the artist's photo and personal brand).
Social Media-BET Awards
The BET awards is by far the biggest event for BET annually. Due to COVID it was virtual. This increased the need for graphics on all platforms. I created all of the nominee and special appearance assets making sure to emphasize the nominee image, date, and category while maintaining the overall color theme and design for the 2020 BET awards.
Social Media-Livestreamed Event
Creating an interactive experience for original programming is a big initiative for BET. I designed assets for BET’s most popular shows that invite fans to participate as virtual commentators.
Deck Templates
Created deck templates for sales and editorial to update with information about the latest original BET Digital content. I keep a library of templates, images, and typography that I can use interchangeably when there is a tight turnaround for a project to ensure that I am delivering a dynamic design.
I created the Award Show decks that excite and sell new ideas and content for BET events such as Soul Train Awards, BET Awards, Hip Hop Awards and Black History Month. In order to sell ideas to sponsors, talent and clients, each deck has to be uniquely capable of demonstrating the events need in the vast Viacom media space with powerful imagery, captivating storytelling and succinct, bold and thoughtful layout and color palettes.
Video Editing and Animation
Black History Month is a tentpole for BET Digital. I was tasked with creating a generic open that used organic shapes and lines. These organic elements were being used for other BHM opens and social assets as well to ensure cohesiveness for all things related to Black History Month. I used deep rich tones of brown and purple and loosely drawn silhouettes of black figures that represented the rich tones in black skin. I added wave-like motion to each element and figure to further emphasize the organic shapes I created. I used illustrator and after effects to create the open.
The anniversary of Kobe and Gianna Bryant’s death was January 2021. In honor of this BET Digital wanted to highlight their bond with a tribute post for social. The editorial team requested an image that was ethereal, included text with their names, and evoked emotion. I chose this image because it showcases their love for each other and also has the correct tone for remembering the icon. I worked with a motion designer to create twinkling stars and motion in the colors of the sky. We wanted to grasp the short attention span of users on social platforms that scroll without purpose and give them a reason to focus on this image.
